Open call · Editorial
A free online viewing room for one Irish gallery.
The first viewing room is on us. One gallery, curator or studio receives a full editorial viewing room — normally €300 — built and hosted at its own URL forever. Submissions close 1 September 2026.
The brief
A viewing room is a curated online exhibition — calm, considered, hosted on its own URL forever. No feed clutter, no algorithm. Just the work, shown whole, with a curator’s note and enquiry links that route directly to you.
We’re looking for one curator — a gallery, an independent, a studio, a project space — with a coherent show in mind: a body of work that holds together, by Irish artists or with Irish presence, that belongs in a quiet room rather than a crowded feed.
If we pick your pitch, we build the room for free. You get the full €300 viewing-room treatment as our first marquee example. In exchange, we ask only that you share it with your list when it goes live, and let us use it as a case study going forward.
What you get
- An editorial viewing room, built by hand.
- Your own URL on theartroom.ie, kept live forever.
- Up to ~20 works shown whole — high-res images, captions, curator’s note.
- Enquiry links on every work, routed to your email — not ours.
- Promotion across our channels: site, newsletter, social.
- Past shows stay published forever — galleries publish past exhibitions, they don’t archive them.
- Normally €300. For the open-call winner, free.
What we ask in return
- A short call (30 min) so we get the curation right.
- Works, captions, and a brief curator’s note from you.
- A share to your list / channels when the room goes live.
- Permission to use it as our marquee example going forward.
- A short testimonial we can quote (one paragraph is plenty).
Submit your pitch
Tell us what you’d show.
No CV needed, no portfolio upload. Just the brief — the show you’d build, the work you’d show, why it belongs in a viewing room. The clearer the curatorial idea, the better.
